The potassium nitrate fertilizer can also be dissolved in water and fertigated to the plants. A venturi injector or dosing pump can be used to inject the potassium nitrate solution to the drip irrigation system.
Application of the fertilizer to crops
Potassium nitrate fertilizer can be used as top dressing, base dressing and side dressing. For top dressing, the fertilizer can be sprinkled on the soil bed.
For side dressing, the potassium nitrate fertilizer should be buried some few centimetres away from each plant on the field.
Some poor quality potassium nitrate fertilizers are not soluble, this type of potassium nitrate is usually imported into Nigeria from China. You should insist on buying highly soluble potassium nitrate fertilizers.
Repeat Application
For some crops, you need to repeat the application of potassium nitrate fertilizer. For Fertigation, you may need to apply potassium nitrate fertilizer every day. For side dressing, you may need to apply potassium nitrate fertilizer weekly.
