Nigeria produces about 300 tons of coconuts annually. About 70% of coconuts consumed in Nigeria is imported into the country. The biggest exporters of coconuts into Nigeria are the Republic of Benin, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
Coconut is produced in about 22 states in Nigeria. The major producers of coconut include states like Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Kogi and Kwara etc.

Delta State
Delta State is in the mangrove swamp forest zone of Nigeria. The Atlantic Ocean passes through Delta States.

There are coconut farmers in towns like Ife, Modakeke, Ede, Osogbo and Iwo. Osun state also has a lot of coconut traders who import coconuts from Ivory Coast via Ejigbo town.
